The Hudson is a navigable river up to Troy. It has a long maritime history,
which is displayed at the Hudson Maritime Museum in Kingston.
Life-size statues greet visitors at the Franklin D. Roosevelt Library in
Hyde Park (about ten miles north of Poughkeepsie.
The erosion-resistant ridge of the Shawangunk Mountains rise out of the
Walkill Valley near New Paltz. Several other ranges are part of the Hudson
Region.
