The Lessons in Geography
section concentrates on different regions of North America from an inter-
disciplinary perspective. They can be used in social studies,
language
arts, math, science, music, foreign language classes.
The Grand Tour of North America is
another interdis- ciplinary project produced by a team of teachers at
Victor
Jr. High School in Victor, NY. The students pretend to take a trip
across
the continent following a parallel of latitude or a meridian of
longitude.
Skills learned in all subject areas are used in this unit.
Lessons on the Geography of the
Underground
Railroad gives teachers an alternative way to teach about
the
Freedom Trail in New York. This is a geographic approach, and it is
very
interactive.
